Age calculator (Gregorian and Hijri)

Enter a date of birth to see exact age in years, months and days. The tool also shows your age in Hijri years and the days left until the next birthday.

Your date of birth stays in this page. It is not saved or sent anywhere.

How age is calculated

The tool counts complete years from the date of birth to the “age on” date, then complete months, then remaining days. When the day number of the end date is smaller than the birth day, it borrows the length of the previous month, which is how most official forms count age.

The Hijri age counts complete lunar years using the Umm al-Qura calendar. Because a Hijri year is about 11 days shorter, a person’s Hijri age is usually one or two years higher than the Gregorian age by middle age.

Worked example

For someone born on 15 March 1990, the age on 13 October 2026 is 36 years, 6 months and 28 days. The next birthday falls on 15 March 2027, which is the number of days shown in the results.

Good to know

  • Change the “age on” date to check eligibility on a future or past date, for example a school admission cut-off.
  • A birthday on 29 February is counted on 1 March in non-leap years.
  • This is for information only. Official documents follow their own rules.

Frequently asked questions

Can I find my age on a particular date in the past or future?

Yes. Change the “age on” date to any day after your date of birth.

Why is my Hijri age higher?

Hijri years are shorter, about 354 days, so more of them fit into the same lifetime.

Is my date of birth stored?

No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is saved or sent.
